Lesa Parker - Yoga Teacher
Lesa has been living in Byron Bay for fifteen years. She has been teaching her yoga classes from the studio at Main Beach since 2002. Lesa first started practicing yoga in 1993, and completed her yoga teacher training with local and internationally recognized teacher, Dena Kingsberg in Janary 2001. She was fortunate to have studied in the form of a long apprenticeship with Dena who is highly regarded as a professional, devoted and inspiring teacher. Prior to starting her classes by the beach, Lesa assisted in and taught classes for several years at Dena Kingsberg's Ashtanga yoga studio, 'Center of Balance'.
Lesa has also been influenced by the work of New Zealand yoga teacher and author Donna Farhi, and has attended several workshops and a teacher training intensive with her. Carolla Krushe has been another inspiring teacher for Lesa. She is one of Australia's foremost Body Mind Centering educators and Lesa has attended a number of her workshops. Lesa also has a keen interest in Pilates and incorporates some elements of this method into her classes.
Lesa broadened her studies of body - mind dynamics by completing a three year part time training in Body Oriented Psychotherapy with Chris Campbell in 1997. She is also an experienced massage therapist and has found that her ten years of hands-on massage work have deepened her understanding of the body-mind and added to her skills as a yoga teacher. Lesa feels the immense value of yoga practice in her own life and loves sharing what she knows with others.
